In a tragic accident on Sunday, eleven pilgrims lost their lives after the vehicle they were traveling in plunged into a canal in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Itia Thok Police Station.
According to officials, the vehicle was carrying 15 passengers en route to the Prithvinath Temple to offer prayers when it veered off and fell into the canal. Rescue operations were launched immediately.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. As per a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, he has instructed officials to reach the accident site without delay and carry out relief and rescue work swiftly.
The Chief Minister has also ordered proper medical treatment for the injured passengers.
